Shamatha Meditation is an ancient Buddhist meditation more commonly know nowadays as Mindfulness practice.
Meditation encourages you to calm and focus the mind by using single pointed concentration. Bringing awareness to the mind and thoughts arising, “letting go” of these thoughts and distractions and returning your focus to the single point, your breath.
Anybody can practice meditation and once you learn the tools you can practice it anywhere, at any time.
For most of us mediation is a very difficult process which takes time to feel comfortable. Even if it is a struggle, meditation practice does have some immediate positive effects. It creates some space in your otherwise usually quite full and hectic life.
Mediation is also being used to treat people suffering from high blood pressure, depression and anxiety and other mental illnesses.
