I found Yoga about 9 years ago when I was feeling quite lost and unsure of what I wanted to do in the future.
I have spent my whole life dancing. I attended a full-time specialised dance program Victorian College of the Arts, Secondary School, (VCASS). After graduating from VCA with a Bachelor of Dance, I went on to perform with various Contemporary Dance projects and Shows in Australia.
Unfortunately I suffered a very bad injury so I gave up “my dream” . I felt lost and unsure of what to do next. Luckily I met with my teacher and mentor, Lianne Metcalf who encouraged me to do the Somachi Vinyasa 200Hr Teacher Training course.
9 months later I was a certified Yoga Teacher. My life and mentality had begun to change. New found awareness and learning of the impermanent nature of life taught me to be more present and resulted in greater happiness.
Through Somachi Yoga I found a new outlet for creative and inspiring movement. I could still connect with my body on the highest level yet deepen it by joining the breath, applying philosophy and practicing meditation. This was a refreshing change from the highly competitive, judgemental world of professional dance.
I have been teaching both Vinyasa and Somachi yoga for about 9 years in Australia, India, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia.
Living and travelling in India has proven to be a huge influence in my lifestyle and my purpose. I now seek balance in all aspects of my life and wish to offer all that I have learnt and experienced to those wishing to listen and participate.
Recently I have set up classes and ran retreats in Phillip Island. I am very proud to bring regular classes to locals, friends, holiday makers and tourists. The beautiful natural surrounds of the ocean, wildlife, interesting and conscious community have led me to call Phillip Island “home’ (again). I feel more settled and grounded which allows me to bring my passion of yoga, movement and meditation to the community here.
The future looks very different to me than a couple of years ago. I was looking to the next trip back to India and new solo-travel adventures. Now it includes maintaining my ground here in Phillip Island; growing our local Creative Yoga community with more classes, retreats and workshops. I do look forward to also including some international retreats, this time sharing my love for India and travel with you all. Watch this space for exciting updates!
